Welcome to the first StayPress blog post

It has been a while now since the first introduction post over on the clearskys.net blog which was highlighted on quite a few other websites including Matt’s.

So I thought that I’d update everyone, who expressed an interest, on the current status and what is likely to happen over the next weeks and months.

Those who visit the StayPress site often (which is probably no-one) will have noticed that it looks a little different now. I’ve moved away from the holding page that was originally here and we now have a nice new shiny log in page.

In the very near future I will be sending out invites to a few people to have a play with the hosted version of the StayPress software and provide some feedback on the user interface, functionality and bugs.

Once this private beta stage is complete I will make a download available for the brave amongst you to test on their own servers.

I decided to take this approach as I felt it would be a lot easier to keep the hosted system updated with fixes and modifications as the beta progressed, rather than having to keep producing updated downloads.

Prior to the invites (and alongside the beta testing) I will see if I can produce some screen-casts and articles about the functionality you will find in StayPress, if for no other reason than to keep everyone interested in the project.

So, if you are interested in being a beta tester and you haven’t already subscribed to this blog then do so now. The Invites information will be posted here first and will be available on a first-come first-served basis.

Those who signed up on the original page are already listed so you don’t need to sign up again.

    Hello there,

I am interested in being a beta tester, but I did not understand what exactly I need to do for subscribing.

    Cheers,

    Nemo.

@Nemo: If you haven’t already, then go direct to http://staypress.com and at the bottom of that page you will see a small box. Click on the Email link and it will open a window for you to put your email address in. Fill in the form and then click on the link in the activate email and you will be subscribed.

    Hi Barry,
could you publish a feature set for StayPress so that folks can get a solid idea of what will be included in Beta and what you plan to include in version 1? thx

Hi Barry! I was really waiting for Staypress. I made many booking websites in WP using your old Clearskies booking with some other plugins with wonderful results in search engines. Probably WP+STAYPRESS will be my core business for some years!!
I can’t wait to try it!!!

    Hi,

Really interested in this project! I’m having to develop a similar system but decided to program it as an RIA in Flex instead. Would be really interested in seeing your approach to it!

This is just the thing we have been looking for to manage our guests and the people staying at our camp. Can’t wait to give it a try.
Any possibility that it would be compatible with Google aps? That would be amazing if it would work with the Google cal API.

Hi Barry, grat news that things are moving forward - very interested in becoming a beta tester. i have a glut of potential clients looking for the WP+Staypress fusion.

  22. Chris Says:

can’t wait to see this thing in action… i signed up a while back but i never received any word since so just a reminder that i would love to be involved with this project in every way. I’m a usability expert and wouldn’t mind giving some free consulting.

  23. Cristian Says:

It would be awesome if the system could support different user roles to allow multiple vendors/companies to create an account and then list and manage their own property and bookings. The admin user would get access to everyone’s property listings on the website. Obviously when a vendor logs in he/she would only get access to their own property listing.

  24. Rafael Says:

Nice work, Barry! Obviously a lot of people are excited about StayPress. :)

After finding out about clearskys on the modx forums, I made my way here…I’ve been looking for a solid and flexible online rental/booking/reservation solution for over a year, and would love to use StayPress on a number of projects - and to be a beta tester as well. Please let me know how I can help!

One question: Is modx compatibility still part of the roadmap?

Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

    Hi
I’ve left you a message on the clearskys blog regarding theme development, posting here too as I’d love to test the beta, have some sites requiring just this type of thing about to go into production and would like to use WP.

    Thanks

exactly my position, only that i have just one site that needs exactly what you are working on.

  27. Cristian Says:

    Hello,

I thought this might be useful. I am sure you have looked at many property booking sites but I like the one we have in NZ which is http://bookabach.co.nz.

I dont expect you to publish this comment on the blog. It’s more like a personal email to you as I am really interested in StayPress which I think is a great project.

Things I like about the bookabatch site is the availability calendar, request a booking, photo gallery, quest book.

I am not associated to BookaBatch in any shape or form.
